Inspired by nature, perfected by science.
Finalist Tandem Repeat, a DeepTech innovator based in the US, aim to redefine the $3T materials industry through scalable biomanufacturing.

Sustainable animal and plastic-free production is gaining momentum in the fashion industry. Tandem Repeat have developed an innovative agricultural approach using plants to produce sustainable and animal-friendly textiles.
By pioneering cost-effective, eco-friendly textile fibres utilising the core technology of integrated fermentation this startup can produce competitive, high-performance alternatives to traditional natural fibres such as wool, cashmere, and cotton, mitigating critical supply constraints inherent in natural production.
Inspired by squids their revolutionary new natural fibre, Squitex, provides enhanced elasticity, self-repair capabilities, and superior mechanical properties.
Plant molecular farming offers an alternative to traditional methods of producing protein-based materials, allowing for more cost-effective production with fewer environmental impacts.Additionally, plant-based manufacturing reduces reliance on animal-sourced materials with low energy and greenhouse gas emissions.
Could this be the material of the future?
We're looking forward to finding out more at the competition pitchday on 3 February.
