Removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is not optional, it’s essential.
Kenyan ClimateTech startup Octavia Carbon is on a mission to create a sustainable future for all by transforming how the world manages carbon.

They design, build, and deploy geothermal integrated DAC technology that filters CO₂ from the atmosphere for permanent underground storage.
Their pilot DAC and geological storage facility, Project Hummingbird, is located in the central Kenyan Rift Valley.

At full capacity, the plant will remove 1,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year over a 10-year lifetime. They have commissioned the facility with a CO₂ storage partner that will manage permanent geological storage. Captured CO₂ is injected into basalt formations, where it mineralises and is safely locked away for the long term.
The team at Octavia Carbon aim to reverse the effects of climate change by scaling DAC down the cost curve.

Providing not only an effective solution for durable carbon removal, but also a catalyst for green industrial growth and climate justice in Kenya.
Could this be the answer needed to combat climate change?
Stay tuned! Competition pitchday is getting near!
